Women's Activities

lwml-logoThe Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) is a national organization that provides funding for mission projects throughout the world. Local societies of LWML contribute to state and national projects, but they also adopt projects in their own communities. Grace LWML is an active society that provides women of all ages with opportunities for service to our Lord.

Business meetings are held once every quarter. We meet monthly for Bible Study, service projects and interest sessions.

Blizzard Night February 15

We’ve got something for everyone on February 15. Whether of not we have a blizzard like we did last year, everyone who comes to this event will get a blizzard. It all gets started with dinner at 5:30 p.m. Games for all ages will start at 6:00 p.m. and then there will be a movie for the whole family to enjoy at 7:00 p.m.  Lots of fun stuff is planned. Please join us. If you have questions, contact DD through the church office.

All Church Picnic

Get ready for a great time at Grace Memorial Day Weekend. We’ll be having an Old Fashioned Church Picnic on Sunday, May 29th. We will have worship and games and great food and the chance to just sit and visit.  On that day there will be only one worship service, and that will be at 10:00 a.m. (No Sunday School or Bible Class that day.)  We plan to have the tent up and have our worship outdoors, so please dress in casual clothes. We’ll eat around noon. The Men of Grace will grill burgers and bratwurst and hot dogs. We ask everyone to bring side dishes and desserts to share. Before and after the meal there will be games and activities for all ages. Some of you may want to sit under the tent and play dominoes. Others will want to be a part of the balloon toss or egg relay race. We just want you all to be there to enjoy the day with us.

Servant Event

Grace is planning a Servant Event for July 11-15. We will be traveling to New Orleans to assist with the rebuilding that is still taking place in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. This is open to anyone who would like to go. We will travel down on July 11, work Tuesday – Thursday, and return on July 15.  The cost per participant is $125.  If you have questions, you can find a lot of answers at http://www.camprestore.org/ or you can contact Lindel Davis or the church office.

Camp Restore is also our Mission Project for March through May. All Sunday School and Midweek offerings will go to support Camp Restore and our mission trip. If you cannot attend but would like to help out, you can make a contribution and mark it for “Camp Restore.” More information is coming soon.

Military Bible Sticks

Our mission project for September – November is to provide Military Bible Sticks for our active duty service men and women. The Military BibleStick comes pre-loaded with the entire New Testament. It is rugged enough to withstand tough weather conditions, can be used in low-light situations, and it easily fits into uniform pockets. It comes with headphones and runs on a single AAA battery. Each kit also includes a CD of the same files that can be loaded on to a computer, as well as a mail in card to have a free CD of the New Testament sent to a spouse or child back home. This entire kit, produced by Faith Comes By Hearing, can be provided to our troops for $25 each. The kits are sent to Chaplains who then distribute them to the service men and women. They are only given to those who request them, and right now the requests far outnumber the funding available.

All the offerings for Sunday School and Midweek will go toward this for this quarter. Anyone who would like to make extra contributions for this project can place it in the regular offering and mark it “Military Bible Sticks.”

May God bless our troops and our efforts to provide them with His Word!
