Gratitude

A hot, freshly brewed cup of coffee while visiting with a friend…

A day on the lake whether the fish are biting or not…

The growth I’ve experienced through hardship and trials…

A clear, bubbling mountain stream on a crisp summer morning…

Living in a nation where we enjoy prosperity and freedom…

A God who loves me enough to let His Son die in my place to pay for my sins…

My family: a beautiful, godly wife, three wonderful daughters, one son-in-law and one soon to be son-in-law…

My baptism…

Playing with my not-so-smart dog…

The chance to receive the Lord’s Supper, sharing in the death of Jesus and fellowship with my brothers and sisters in Christ…

A home and possessions that far exceed my needs…

Working in my yard…

Christian friends…

All the wonderful parts of this country that I’ve been able to visit…

The opportunity to be a minister of the Good News of Jesus Christ in this community…

You’ve all heard the admonition to count your blessings. It is something you are encouraged to do this time of year as we observe a national day of thanks. I’ve shared a small part of my list with you here. However, the thing that stands out above everything else is a cross and an empty tomb. That is what puts all my blessings into proper perspective.

Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; His love endures forever.”  Psalm 118:1
