The Youth Group went to Target during Sunday School on December 11. Two teams were given $50 each and told to buy food for the local food banks. This was what they purchased. Way to go, guys! Thanks for sharing the love of Jesus this way.

Thanksgiving Worship

Join us for a Thanksgiving Eve worship service on November 23 at 7:00 p.m. The service theme is “Thanks Through the Church Year.” We’ll be singing traditional hymns from all parts of the church year and consider how our thanks to God is part of it all. Everyone is invited to join us as we gather together for worship and direct our thanks to the one who gives us everything.

Prior to the worship, from 6:00-6:45 p.m., the Youth Group will serve a turkey dinner to anyone who wishes to attend.  An offering will be collected at the dinner to assist our Youth Group with the Servant Event they will attend next Summer.

All Church Picnic

Get ready for a great time at Grace Memorial Day Weekend. We’ll be having an Old Fashioned Church Picnic on Sunday, May 29th. We will have worship and games and great food and the chance to just sit and visit.  On that day there will be only one worship service, and that will be at 10:00 a.m. (No Sunday School or Bible Class that day.)  We plan to have the tent up and have our worship outdoors, so please dress in casual clothes. We’ll eat around noon. The Men of Grace will grill burgers and bratwurst and hot dogs. We ask everyone to bring side dishes and desserts to share. Before and after the meal there will be games and activities for all ages. Some of you may want to sit under the tent and play dominoes. Others will want to be a part of the balloon toss or egg relay race. We just want you all to be there to enjoy the day with us.

Spring Midweek

Our Spring Midweek will be in full swing starting April 27.  The theme will be “24 Hours That Changed The World.”  Kids will trace the final week of Jesus’ life leading up to His last day on earth.  They will sit with Him at the Last Supper, pray with Him at Gethsemane, follow Him to the cross, desert Him, deny Him, and rejoice in His resurrection.  This will be a meaningful experience for all ages.  Dinner will be served at 6:00 p.m.  The program is from 6:30-8:00 p.m.  All kids from 4-12 are invited to come.

Servant Event

Grace is planning a Servant Event for July 11-15. We will be traveling to New Orleans to assist with the rebuilding that is still taking place in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. This is open to anyone who would like to go. We will travel down on July 11, work Tuesday – Thursday, and return on July 15.  The cost per participant is $125.  If you have questions, you can find a lot of answers at http://www.camprestore.org/ or you can contact Lindel Davis or the church office.

Camp Restore is also our Mission Project for March through May. All Sunday School and Midweek offerings will go to support Camp Restore and our mission trip. If you cannot attend but would like to help out, you can make a contribution and mark it for “Camp Restore.” More information is coming soon.

Food for the Poor

Food For The Poor is the number one international relief and development charity in the United States, feeding 2 million poor every day. Our Christian relief programs and projects are helping children and the poorest of the poor by providing food, housing, health care, education, water projects, emergency relief and micro-enterprise assistance in the Caribbean and Latin America.

Rev. Daniel Otto  brought us a message about Food for the Poor in our worship services on May 2. The door offering received that day was about $2000, almost enough to build one home. Your contributions can go a long way toward feeding and houseing the poor of this area. For example, $25 provides 20 chicks; $90 provides a family with a goat; $205 provides a water pump. There is so much we can share with those living in destitution.

Our Summer Sunday School and VBS offerings this year will all be going to support Food for the Poor. If you would like to make a special gift or know more about specific needs, there is a catalog in the church office.
