Pledge Sunday November 20

All the members of Grace will have the opportunity to place their pledge of financial support for our shared ministry on the Altar during our worship services on November 20. A mailing has been sent to all members with a cover letter, pledge form and suggested prayers for use as you consider your personal committment. May God continue to bless our use of the resources He has given to us all!
Outdoor Worship
Sunday September 4 is a big day for Grace. There will only be one worship service on that day and it will be held at 10:00 a.m. If all goes well, this service will be in our new pavilion, which we hope to dedicate that day!
This day will also be our Rally Day, marking the start of a new Sunday School year.
In addition, we will have a New Member Welcome, publicly welcoming all those who have joined our congregation this year.
We have a guest speaker: Patrick Miller, a son of the congregation, will bring us the message from God’s Word. Patrick was the Lead Pastor at Water’s Edge, Frisco until the end of July. He stepped down from that position in order to launch a new mission in the area north of Dallas. No doubt he will share with us the news of this exciting venture.
And what would a celebration be without a meal? We’ll have a potluck after the worship service. Bring some things to share as we enjoy our time and fellowship in Christ.
Praise Team

The Praise Team is what we call the group that introduces new music into our services and helps lead congregational singing. We welcome vocalists and instrumentalists to be a part of this ministry of music. We will resume our rehearsals on Sundays from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. on September 11. Join us in making a joyful noise to the Lord.
Miracles of Lent
Beginning Ash Wednesday, March 9, we will examine the Miracles of Lent in our Midweek services in order to prepare ourselves for the celebration of the Resurrection on Easter, April 24. This series directs our thoughts to the significant miracles and signs God used to set apart His Son’s death from all others. These miracles help spread the Good News of Jesus as the Savior of all people.
Worship each Wednesday will be at 7:00 p.m. A meal will be served at 6:00 p.m. for those who wish to join us.

Behold the Lamb!

We just celebrated His birth at Christmas. Now let’s think about who He is and what that means for us as His disciples. A sermon series for the first three Sundays of 2011 invites you to “Behold the Lamb of God.” This series will be based on John 1:29-42.

While Shepherds Watched
In our preparation for Christmas this year, the theme of Advent is all about Shepherds. Our Wednesday evening services will look at Abraham, Moses and The Bethlehem Shepherds. On Sunday, Dec 12 we will think about the shepherd David. The Children’s Program on December 19 will look at “Aaron, the Allergic Shepherd.” This is all in preparation for welcoming the Good Shepherd into our hearts and lives again as we celebrate Christmas. Worship on Wednesdays Dec 1, 8, and 15 is at 7:00 p.m. A Soup Supper will be served on each of those days at 6:00 p.m.
New Member Welcome
In our worship services on September 19 we will publicly welcome into membership those who have joined our congregation this year after attending membership classes or by transfer from another LCMS congregation. There will be a potluck luncheon after the late service to welcome these newest members of Grace in a less formal atmosphere and give all our members the chance to introduce themselves. Please plan to join us.
Youth Service

On August 29 at both worship services the Youth and adults who attended ”We Believe”, the National Youth Gathering in New Orleans, will be sharing their experiences with us. You won’t want to miss this!
Sermon Series for August
Want some encouragement? Some suggestions for getting your life in order? How do others do it? Maybe this sermon series will be just the thing you need. During the month of August, the theme for Pastor Mattil’s messages in worship is “Being With Jesus.”
Palm Sunday & Confirmation
Our observance of Holy Week begins on March 28 with Palm Sunday, remembering the entry of Jesus into Jerusalem surrounded by the cries of the people: “Hosanna to the Son of David.” It is our custom at Grace to hold Confirmation on Palm Sunday. Six of our young members have completed two years of instruction in the Christian faith and will make profession of their faith for themselves through this rite on Sunday morning at the late service. We invite you to worship with us and rejoice with these young members on this special day in their lives.
