Annual Prolife Display

On January 14 we will put up the crosses for our annual Pro-Life Display. The crosses represent the number of lives snuffed out EVERY DAY in this country through abortion. We want our community to know that we are for life and that we will help and support them when they find themselves in difficult circumstances. January 22th will be a celebration of Life Sunday in our worship services.

Naughty or Nice

Our children will present their Christmas Program during the 10:30 worship service on December 18. This year’s program is “Naughty or Nice.” All the children who attend MidWeek and Sunday School are invited to be part of this program. If you would like for your child to be part of this Christmas Program, contact DD Pappas.

Midweek Advent Opportunities

To help us prepare for this year’s celebration of our Lord’s birth, you will have a chance to join us for fellowship, food and worship the first three Wednesdays of December. The food and fellowship time begins at 6 p.m. The LWML will provide a soup each week, asking others to bring breads and desserts to share. Worship will begin at 7 p.m. Our theme for these services will be “One Night In Bethlehem.” Everyone is welcome to join us as we get ready to rejoice together!

Bearing Fruit for Jesus

This year’s stewardship theme is “Bearing Fruit for Jesus: His Grace and Power at Work Within You.” Jesus said, “You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit—fruit that will last” (John 15:16). Fruit characterizes the life of the Christian steward. Christ living in us enables us to bear fruit.

Our Worship and Bible Studies for the first three Sundays of November will focus on Being Faithful and Fruitful Stewards.

Pledge Sunday November 20

All the members of Grace will have the opportunity to place their pledge of financial support for our shared ministry on the Altar during our worship services on November 20. A mailing has been sent to all members with a cover letter, pledge form and suggested prayers for use as you consider your personal committment. May God continue to bless our use of the resources He has given to us all!

Outdoor Worship

Sunday September 4 is a big day for Grace. There will only be one worship service on that day and it will be held at 10:00 a.m. If all goes well, this service will be in our new pavilion, which we hope to dedicate that day!

This day will also be our Rally Day, marking the start of a new Sunday School year.

In addition, we will have a New Member Welcome, publicly welcoming all those who have joined our congregation this year.

We have a guest speaker: Patrick Miller, a son of the congregation, will bring us the message from God’s Word. Patrick was the Lead Pastor at Water’s Edge, Frisco until the end of July. He stepped down from that position in order to launch a new mission in the area north of Dallas. No doubt he will share with us the news of this exciting venture.

And what would a celebration be without a meal? We’ll have a potluck after the worship service. Bring some things to share as we enjoy our time and fellowship in Christ.

Praise Team

The Praise Team is what we call the group that introduces new music into our services and helps lead congregational singing. We welcome vocalists and instrumentalists to be a part of this ministry of music. We will resume our rehearsals on Sundays from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. on September 11. Join us in making a joyful noise to the Lord.

All Church Picnic

Get ready for a great time at Grace Memorial Day Weekend. We’ll be having an Old Fashioned Church Picnic on Sunday, May 29th. We will have worship and games and great food and the chance to just sit and visit. On that day there will be only one worship service, and that will be at 10:00 a.m. (No Sunday School or Bible Class that day.) We plan to have the tent up and have our worship outdoors, so please dress in casual clothes. We’ll eat around noon. The Men of Grace will grill burgers and bratwurst and hot dogs. We ask everyone to bring side dishes and desserts to share. Before and after the meal there will be games and activities for all ages. Some of you may want to sit under the tent and play dominoes. Others will want to be a part of the balloon toss or egg relay race. We just want you all to be there to enjoy the day with us.

Easter

Easter Sunday is April 24, 2011!

Our celebration of the Resurrection of Jesus includes a morning full of activities. We will have a Sunrise Service at 7:00 a.m. in the parking lot facing the rising sun if the weather cooperates. If the weather is bad, we will hold the service in the sanctuary. At 8:00 a.m., our Youth Group will serve a pancake breakfast. A free will offering will support the Youth in their activities, including those attending the servant event in New Orleans in July. At 9:00 a.m. the Youth Group will sponsor an Easter Egg Hunt for those in 6th grade and younger. Sunday School and Bible Class will begin at 9:15 a.m. A second worship service celebrating the Resurrection of our Lord will begin at 10:30 a.m. We invite everyone to join us for this high point for the Church Year!
