Blizzard Night February 15

We’ve got something for everyone on February 15. Whether of not we have a blizzard like we did last year, everyone who comes to this event will get a blizzard. It all gets started with dinner at 5:30 p.m. Games for all ages will start at 6:00 p.m. and then there will be a movie for the whole family to enjoy at 7:00 p.m.  Lots of fun stuff is planned. Armor of God

Midweek is in session from Jan 4- Feb 8 under the theme “The Armor of God” for kids from 3-12. In addition, Pastor will teach confirmation class, Michael Miller will meet with the High School Youth , and an adult class under the leadership of Jason Barker will take place on these dates. We are offering something for all ages every Wednesday. Dinner will be served at 6:00 p.m.  The program and activities are from 6:30-8:00 p.m.

Annual Prolife Display

 

On January 14 we will put up the crosses for our annual Pro-Life Display. The crosses represent the number of lives snuffed out EVERY DAY in this country through abortion. We want our community to know that we are for life and that we will help and support them when they find themselves in difficult circumstances. January 22th will be a celebration of Life Sunday in our worship services.

Food Drive Contribution

The Youth Group went to Target during Sunday School on December 11. Two teams were given $50 each and told to buy food for the local food banks. This was what they purchased. Way to go, guys! Thanks for sharing the love of Jesus this way.

Mission Project

Our current Sunday School and Midweek Mission Project is supporting a Mission Planter in India. We cannot give his name for his protection. We can tell you that he is working in Kerala on the southern tip of India’s peninsula. There are 32 million people in that state, and about 20% claim to be Christian. There are millions who have never had the chance to hear of God’s redeeming love in Christ Jesus. The need is great, and there are willing workers — they simply need support. In addition to any financial assistance you can give, you are asked to pray for the planter and his family, that he may be filled with knowledge and understanding; pray for his ministry, that he might clearly share God’s Word and His love; and pray against hardships, that he has the strength and patience to endure opposition and persecution.

Pavilion

On September 4 we dedicated our new pavilion to the glory of God and prayed that it would be used to draw people closer to Christ. Worship was held outside that day. Patrick Miller brought us the message from God’s Word. We welcomed new members during the service and also commissioned all those who will be working with our Children’s Ministry this year.

 

Children’s Ministry

We place a high priority on nurturing children in their faith. Sunday School classes are conducted year-round. Vacation Bible School is held every summer, normally in June. Midweek activities are offered most of the year on Wednesdays, beginning at 6 p.m. with a dinner. These are open to anyone who would like to come – and it is all free! We want to share the Good News of Jesus that we have received with everyone. Contact DD Pappas for more information.

 

Sunday Morning Bible Classes

Pastor’s Sunday morning class will begin “Christianity and the  Competition.” a video study featuring Dr. Paul Maier, on September 11.  Please feel free to join us as we dig deeper into God’s Word.

 

Church Picnic 2011

Memorial Day weekend we set up our tent for an outdoor worship service and a church picnic. A band from the Bonham VA called “Disciples of Christ” provided music before and after the worship service. The service included a recognition of those who had family members die in military service, those who are veterans, and those who have family members now serving in the armed forces.

The old fashioned picnic included sack races, a balloon toss, and a three-legged race. There was also a “pie contest” with thirteen entries, and Susan Knowles won the blue ribbon with an apricot/blueberry masterpiece. Gladys Longpre was third place with a rhubarb custard pie and Linda Hixson’s blueberry rhubarb was the second place entry.

The Men of Grace provided and cooked the burgers, bratwurst and hot dogs, and everyone else brought lots of great food to share.

We also held the drawing for the Ipad 2 raffled off by the Youth Group. This raised over $2000 to help the Youth attending the servant event at Camp Restore in July. The winner was Debbie Morris, a co-worker of Penny Williams.

It was a wonderful day of fresh air and fellowship and praising God together.
